This bespectacled boy wears a V-necked teal-blue sweater or sweatshirt with a mauve-taupe horizontal stripe, light brown pants, and sneakers. (The colors are subject to change, depending on the quality of the image used.) His moderately long hair is a light brown, parted on the left. His glasses have oval lenses. The plain-looking backpack he takes to school is gray.
This lad does not exhibit a wide range of facial expressions. He is almost always seen looking on with an impassive gaze that one could interpret as disinterested, bored, jaded, or disdainful. Not the emotional sort, perhaps.
His first appearance on Daria takes place in "Esteemsters," where he is shown as one of the students being welcomed to LHS by Ms. Li. He stands impassively behind Daria and Quinn. Little is known about him, other than he was previously a freshman at a different high school. He tends to sit in the back of classrooms, though he is seen sitting in the front of larger assemblies. A review of the image gallery gives one the impression he goes along with the crowd in nearly all school activities.

1. V-neck's first appearance, behind Daria and Quinn and next to Scarlett, in "Esteemsters." The alternate image shows him near the back of the group of new kids, on the far left beside Shaggy.
2. In the auditorium crowd watching Daria and Jane's "graduation" from self-esteem class ("Esteemsters"), V-neck is in top left of the image. Curiously, he is again shown next to Scarlett. Perhaps they became friends, both being new to LHS.
3. V-neck shows mild disappointment (perhaps, it's hard to tell) with the results of a test in Mr. DeMartino's history class ("Murder, She Snored"). That night he appears in Daria's dream (see #22).
4. Here he is seen in the back of Ms. Stoller's classroom in "Lucky Strike" (see #7).
5. V-neck is almost hidden by Jane Lane in this classroom image from "It Happened One Nut."
6. In the back of Mr. DeMartino's classroom, V-neck studies his career aptitude test results ("It Happened One Nut").
7. Bored witless (or put to sleep) by the almost senile substitute teacher, V-neck all but oozes onto the floor from his chair in "Lucky Strike."
8. V-neck can be seen sitting next to Happy Girl, working on an art project for Ms. Defoe, while Daria talks with Brittany ("The Invitation").
9. Sitting in the audience during Upchuck and Stacy's magic show, V-neck still doesn't look impressed ("Life in the Past Lane").
10. V-neck enjoys a burger and soda in the LHS cafeteria while Jodie Landon complains to Mack (Is It College Yet).
11. In the LHS cafeteria, he shares the table with Robert's Pal and Blue Shirt ("One J at a Time").
12. Here he is near the front row in the medieval fair's theater, watching Quinn's debut at acting. Helen and Jake Morgendorffer are already reacting to the developing chaos on the stage. The alternate image shows the turkey-leg-throwing chaos spreading to the audience (and V-neck), as the Griffins smile in satisfaction.
13. V-neck looks on from the safety of the sidelines, as Jamie signs a form before he faces the Black Knight (Mr. DeMartino) in "Fair Enough."
14. We see him at the extreme right of the Black Knight "arena," standing next to Kelly ("Fair Enough").
15. Having changed into clothing displaying Lawndale High's school colors (blue and yellow) for School Colors Day, V-neck gives Val and Daria a glance as he walks by in the hallway ("The Lost Girls").
16. Oblivious to a distraught Sandi passing behind him, V-neck opens his locker ("Fat Like Me").
17. At the beginning of "Lucky Strike," he stands in the far upper left of this image among students listening to Ms. Li's announcement of a teacher's strike. The alternate image shows V-neck closer up.
18. V-neck eyes Daria and Jane with dark suspicion (thinking they might be aliens in human form) in "The Lawndale File." This is perhaps the only time in the series he shows any real emotion.
19. First Scarlett, and now Andrea? V-neck walks through the LHS arcade next to another fan favorite ("Partner's Complaint").
20. We see V-neck walking with Tank Top at the upper right of this image, a photograph taken by Daria for a photo essay (in The Daria Database). The scene appears to be the LHS student parking lot, possibly right after school has ended.
21. In his senior year, he joins the queue of would-be boyfriends of Quinn at the local pizzeria ("One J at a Time"). The alternate image is a closeup of V-neck in line.
22. At Kevin's outdoor funeral during Daria's dream in "Murder, She Snored," we see V-neck immediately behind and to the left of White Sweater.
