Description

Adam is a huge, broad-shouldered, possibly overweight student. Towering above most of his classmates, he could easily be over six feet (1.8 m). He would be a natural if Lawndale High had a sumo wrestling team. His usual clothing includes long, baggy green-teal pants; a turtleneck sweater that (depending on the color image used) is either spring green, yellow-green, or butterscotch; and a long light button-down jacket with rolled-up sleeves that is buff or amber in color. Maybe he has a selection of different-colored clothing to wear—you make the call. His shoes might be large black-and-white sneakers. Though intimidating in appearance, he seems to have a quiet nature and is not known to be mischievous. His hair is styled in cornrows radiating out like spokes from the top of his head.

Notes

Adam's name is known only because we catch a glimpse of Mr. O'Neill's classroom seating roster in "Cafe Disaffecto."

Lawndale High is alleged in a number of places to have few African-American students. Adam is one, but we know nothing of his thoughts or goals. We do know, however, that he is often seen in the company of Jessica, more often than chance appears to allow. Dating? Friends? Related? Linked by the Great Cosmic Wheel of Karma? We're not sure.

Image Gallery Notes

1. Adam can be seen on the left in this image from "This Year's Model," just behind Jane Lane in Mr. O'Neill's class.

2. Obviously bored and possibly dozing, Adam sits in Mr. O'Neill's class in "The F Word." This episode had an unusual seating arrangement in the class, though Adam is still behind Jane.

3. Another classroom shot from "The F Word," showing how MTV artists often cut away part of the classroom to highlight certain students. Jodie, visible in #2, has disappeared. Adam is still bored.

4. Mr. O'Neill's class, showing the common seating arrangement from the first three seasons (episode unknown).

5. Seated behind Joey in "This Year's Model," Adam watches quietly as the Amazon Modeling Agency evaluates Lawndale's females.

6. Adam, seated next to Les, is visible in the upper right corner of this Lawndale High cafeteria scene. Kevin is about to drop his crutches and walk without them ("A Tree Grows in Lawndale").

7. The first of a series of three images showing Adam standing next to Jessica in "I Loathe a Parade."

8. Very good close-up of Adam, showing his height in relation to other students ("I Loathe a Parade").

9. Sandi Griffin's younger brothers laugh in the foreground as hard candy bombards the crowd in "I Loathe a Parade."

10. Sandi on crutches is not very interesting to Adam, who goes about getting into his locker ("Fat Like Me").

11. Adam and Orange Girl appear to be listening to Mystik Spiral in this scene from Brittany's party in "Groped by an Angel."

12. Adam impassively watches beside a crowded Mr. DeMartino as Lawndale's football team gets smeared ("The F Word").

13. Standing in shallow water next to Trapezoid Glasses and behind Sandi, Adam watches the Princess Fairy disaster unfold in "Just Add Water." If Lawndale is near Baltimore, as was suggested by Glenn Eichler, then Adam is probably in Chesapeake Bay.

14. In his best brown suit, Adam watches the fighting unfold in the parking lot between rivals for Quinn's and Brittany's affections in "Daria Dance Party."

15. In "Fair Enough," Adam can be seen watching Mr. DeMartino beat the crap out of all challengers (all students). It is doubtful that Adam got into the ring himself.

16. Seated next to Green Cap Dude in the school gymnasium, Adam is about to burst into song like everyone else in "Daria!" (alternate image). Adam is in the lower left corner, and he disappears off-screen except for one hand when the singing starts.

17. A wider view of the students in the gymnasium as Ms. Li runs to announce the hurricane's approach ("Daria!"). Adam is sitting near the middle of the front row between Green Cap Dude and Tank Top.

18. Adam is one of the students outside the principal's office in "Lucky Strike" when Ms. Li announces the teachers are on strike. He is on the left.

19. In "Lucky Strike," Adam is visible behind Kevin as the teachers asks the students to introduce themselves.

20.

21. Adam, wearing school colors for Val's visit to LHS, is visible in the background in Mr. O'Neill's literature class. Val, bored, is in the foreground. He attempts to ask Val a question in class later, but we don't find out what it was.

22. Adam wears blue and yellow on School Colors Day and gets to appear on television, behind the reporter. Val is in town ("The Lost Girls"). In a different shot we see Adam again with Val in the foreground. Strange that so many kids would have a whole suit of clothes in school colors, but that's animation for you.

23. We see Adam down the hallway in LHS, watching as Ms. Li goes into a brief psychotic episode ("Fizz Ed"). After consuming too much caffeine and undergoing extreme stress, the principal runs amok with a fire axe, attacking vending machines. Note the hall decorations and advertising for Ultra-Cola (alternate image).

24. The last we see of Adam in the series is a brief shot of him smiling and flinging papers into the air as the final bell rings for the senior class of Lawndale High (Is It College Yet?). Winner walks in front of him as he does this.
