Angie

Description

Angie is an attractive platinum blonde who appears to be mildly below average in intelligence, though smarter than Brittany and possibly being the smartest of all the other cheerleaders, which isn't saying much. Like the other cheerleaders at Lawndale High, Angie regularly wears her blue-and-yellow cheerleading outfit to school—one of this institution's many peculiarities. She wears her hair long and straight, curled up at the ends, with parted bangs across her forehead.

Notes

This teen almost never appears in the series without at least one other cheerleader around her, and almost never out of her cheerleading uniform.

Angie has stated at least once that Brittany Taylor is her best friend. Angie's defense of Brittany ("The F Word"), tattling on Kevin ("It Happened One Nut"), and refusal to fool around with Brittany's boyfriend Kevin ("I Loathe a Parade") bear this out. Brittany was once accidentally made to believe Angie had an affair with Kevin ("Fat Like Me"), but she expressed anger only at Kevin, not at Angie.

There has been a long-term rumor in this fandom that the names and physical appearances of the four main Lawndale High cheerleaders (Brittany, Angie, Lisa, and Nikki) were based upon certain models and actresses of the late 1990s. A discussion thread on PPMB recently suggested that, based on statements from MTV staff, that Angie's looks might have been based on Sarah Michelle Gellar, of Buffy the Vampire Slayer fame. The resemblance is certainly there. Her name might have been taken from actress/model Angie Everhart, though the two do not appear to look alike.

Fanfiction Appearances

Angie's appearances in Daria fanfiction are generally short and rarely if ever of major consequence. She almost always has Brittany or the other cheerleaders in her company.

7. Angie glares at Brittany, who is trying to talk about intellectual issues, in "The F Word."

8. In Daria's bizarre dream in "Murder, She Snored," Angie and other cheerleaders perform a routine at Kevin Thompson's funeral as Mr. O'Neill cries. This should be treated as a fantasy event.

9. The last we see of Angie and the other cheerleaders besides Brittany, they excitedly talk about being accepted into Great Prairie State university, every one of them (all other colleges turned them down). Brittany we see later in graduation photos, and it is assumed the other girls were there as well.

10. Angie was probably aware that Kevin Thompson's mother was not fond of Kevin's relationship with Brittany ("Mart of Darkness").
