Green Cap Dude is an African-American student at LHS. He dresses in a hip-hop style: a green, backward-turned duckbill cap; a collared button-down white shirt with a straight, even bottom hem, worn pulled out of his baggy (but not saggy) light-gray trousers; and tan boots or heavy shoes. He appears to be of average height and weight.
Green Cap Dude is one of a handful of students who witnessed first-hand Daria's confession to Jane about kissing Tom, in "Dye! Dye! My Darling." He stood behind Daria, next to Andrea.
He is also clearly a fan of the Fashion Club, particularly Quinn, and it is likely he has dated one or more of the Fashion Club during his time in school. He is seen hanging around the Three Js in "Daria Dance Party," but unlike them he goes to the dance instead of Sandi's house, perhaps because Quinn is at the dance.
Like so many other African-American students at Lawndale High, Green Cap Dude is rarely seen in the company of the few other black students. Why this is so is not known.

1. Green Cap Dude first appears in the series in Daria's history class ("Esteemsters"), sitting at the back of the room immediately behind Jane Lane. Jane later changes seats to sit next to Daria.
2. Another view of Green Cap Dude in Mr. DeMartino's class ("Esteemsters"), showing who sits near him on his left (our right). Again, this seating order changed after this episode when Jane moved.
3. He appears to be asleep in his seat during the assembly to honor Daria and Jane's completion of self-esteem class ("Esteemsters"). The alternate image shows no reaction from him when Quinn blows up, so he is probably dozing or looking at someone else. He didn't miss anything important.
4. Seating arrangement in another class, and again Green Cap Dude is in the back row (episode unknown).
5. "College Bored" finds Green Cap Dude listening attentively (again from the back row) in the class about preparing for college. Note Scarlett's cross-eyed look. Also note that Scarlett and Green Cap Dude are seen together later in #18.
6. The oddball gymnasium assembly in "Daria!": Green Cap Dude is in the front row, third over from the right.
7. "Daria!": The students are informed by Ms. Li that a hurricane is coming, and classes are canceled.
8. "Daria!": The students look at each other, then...
9. "Daria!": ...they burst into song! Green Cap Dude sits between Adam and Jessica, who have appeared together elsewhere and might be dating.
10. At the local pizza place after school, Quinn and Sandi attempt to outdo each other in the field of party-throwing ("Daria Dance Party"). The Three Js and their friends are offered the chance to join the festivities planned by one or the other, but not both. Green Cap Dude calls out greetings by name to both Quinn and Sandi, as do several other guys. It is possible that he has dated both girls, but would prefer going out with Quinn (see #17).
11. "Daria Dance Party": The boys initially become wildly enthusiastic about the possibilities, but when forced to choose between two equally incredible events, they develop headaches (alternate image).
12. A senior now, Green Cap Dude watches as a hot-dog contest sponsored by Jake Morgendorffer gets started on school grounds ("Prize Fighters"). Note that two The Heads are walking up on either side of him. Does he notice?
13. Also in his senior year, Green Cap Dude listens to the Fashion Club as they try to recall their fashion newsletters ("The Story of D"). He and the other guys must have a serious thing for the Fashion Club (or just Quinn) to have even purchased those newsletters.
14. "The Story of D": Green Cap Dude and the other guys listen to the Fashion Club talk about the fashion newsletter. They do not seem happy.
15. Eyewitness to a dramatic and pivotal moment in the series: Daria tells Jane she kissed Tom Sloane ("Dye! Dye! My Darling"), as Green Cap Dude and Andrea look on in surprise and sadness.
16. Standing with other students outside the high school, listening to Mr. O'Neill's presentation ("The Lawndale File"). This is just before Daria and Jane are (erroneously) outed as alien invaders from space.
17. Green Cap Dude can be seen standing in the long line of potential suitors for Quinn Morgendorffer outside the pizza place ("One J at a Time").
18. Having a conversation with Scarlett next to his locker, as Daria and Jane walk by ("My Night at Daria's").
19. While Mack Mackenzie sits despondent, his team forfeiting a football game because they drank too much Ultra-Cola and have digestive issues, the scattered LHS fans in the bleachers appear equally depressed ("Fizz Ed"). Among those in the stands is Green Cap Dude, immediately above and to the left of Mack, leaning on the railing as he looks over the gridiron. This scene is assumed to take place in wintertime between January and March, given clues in the episode. Everyone has jackets, but there is no snow.
